IFB-Tx symposium: Perspectives in Transplantation

The Integrated Research and Treatment Center Transplantation (IFB-Tx) at the Medizinische Hochschule Hannover MHH was started in 2008 and is now in its last funding period. The goals of the IFB- Tx were manifold: integration of all specialties in transplantation medicine, a program for young clinician-scientist, improvement of clinical research and, most importantly, excellent biomedical research. This symposium addresses some of these aspects of the IFB-Tx at MHH. The especially addressed three areas of future development in transplantation research at the MHH are:

(1) novel therapeutic strategies,

(2) immune monitoring, and

(3) cellular therapeutics.

In addition, reperfusion injury and the long-term care and survival of transplanted patients were important scientific goals. Last not least, the management of transplantation medicine and its quality control has been a challenging topic for the IFB-Tx.

The IFB-Tx symposium will present some of the scientific successes of the last decade and discuss them with international experts. Our meeting “Perspectives in Transplantation” takes place together with a symposium on another important area of research within the IFB-Tx, i.e. gender and transplantation. We cordially welcome you to Hannover and its Medical School for three days of science in transplantation medicine.
